How to make an Vodka Screwdriver cocktail

Even if you don’t know the Vodka Screwdriver cocktail, you have probably already drunk this cocktail once as a mix. It is in fact the cocktail name for the well-known mixed drink vodka – gravy. The name probably comes from the American expatriates who worked in the oil industry in the strictly religious Dubai. Between breaks, they secretly mixed their drink (orange juice) with vodka. You guessed it, they stirred it with their screwdrivers. Hence the name!

Let’s make an Vodka Screwdriver cocktail

The Screwdriver is a simple cocktail to make and is usually poured and stirred in a long drink glass. Use 1.5 parts vodka. 3 parts orange juice (preferably freshly squeezed). Shake vigorously and pour into your cocktail glass. Garnish with a fresh orange slice.

PS: personally I prefer to drink my Screwdriver in style from a martini glass. In that case, the screwdriver can just stay in the toolbox.
